As you can see in the map above, the province of Burgos is located on northern Spain, in the region of Castilla y León and the city of Burgos is located on the center of it. Burgos has about 180000 inhabitants.
Burgos is a cultural city with many attractions. It is even World Heritage for three reasons: its cathedral and old town, the Atapuerca site and the Way of Saint James. It was also the European City of Gastronomy in 2013 for its culinary delights.
It is an easily accessible town, as it is very close to the capital Madrid, which has the international airport of Barajas with direct flights to every country of the world. From the airport there are frequent buses to Burgos, it takes about two hours and three quarters to arrive to Burgos town, and the road is a highway. The bus company that sales tickets on-line is ALSA.
But there are many other options, for example from Bilbao, having about two hours away by bus and good connects by train (RENFE company, online ticket sales). Other cities with airport close to Burgos are Valladolid and Santander.
Regarding the extensive province of Burgos, there are many attractions that deserve the visit of the tourist. The highlights are the gastronomic routes, the natural landscapes and the historical villages.
